Rentrak Announces Deal With HDNet

7 Apr, 2009 By: Billy Gil

Rentrak Corporation has signed a linear measurement deal with high-definition programming provider HDNet.

Rentrak will be HDNet’s source for third-party reporting and measurements as well as allow HDNet access to analytics from more than 3 million set-top boxes. Rentrak provides anonymous viewing data through its TV Essentials program. The information management company will analyze viewing patterns for HDNet and HDNet Movies programming as high-definition content becomes a more important viewing alternative for sports, movies and music.

“TV Essentials, through second-by-second reporting and detailed performance by market, enables greater scheduling insight so we can retain our audience and continue to provide award-winning programming to the maximum number of viewers,” said Mark Cuban, chairman and co-founder of HDNet. “Using Rentrak data, we have been able to further confirm our leadership positioning in Mixed Martial Arts and concerts and to show the incredible response to the HDNet Movies pre-theatrical Sneak Preview Releases like The Great Buck Howard and Two Lovers, both of which are currently in theaters.”
