LAS VEGAS – LG Electronics Jan. 4 announced its first 4K UHD Blu-ray player at CES.

The player can accommodate both DolbyVision and HDR 10.

“With more than 1 million Ultra HD Blu-ray Discs now in consumers’ hands, LG believes we are now at a tipping point for next-generation Blu-ray,” said David VanderWaal, VP of marketing for LG Electronics USA, during a press conference.

“As the saying goes, content is king,” he said, adding that LG’s updated Web operating system will accommodate Netflix, Vudu and Amazon streaming content in 4K UHD with high dynamic range.

He also touted LG’s award-winning 77-inch OLED Signature model TV, which includes DolbyVision and Dolby Atmos sound.
