After three straight quarters of revenue drops, the LCD TV industry saw a bump in sales in the second half of 2009, according to research from iSuppli. The data bodes well for the LCD industry this year, the company said.
“Revenue growth and profitability in the global LCD TV panel market in 2010 will be driven by rising demand, the shift to larger-sized displays, the accelerating sales higher-value panels and increased manufacturing efficiency,” said Sweta Dash, senior director of LCD research for iSuppli.
The company is forecasting more than $49 billion in revenue for the LCD industry in 2010, a 40% increase from the $35.2 billion the industry pulled in last year. From 2008 to 2009 the LCD industry saw a 5.2% decline in total revenue.
