HDTV manufacturer Hyundai IT Corp. has inked a deal with Canada’s Sensio Technologies to bring Sensio 3D technology into its latest line-up of LCD 3D HDTVs, available this fall.

“By choosing Sensio, we acquire access to a robust technology, one of the largest libraries of home 3D content in the world and a team that contributes to the success of the 3D industry, thereby collaborating in the success of our own marketing initiatives,” said Hyundai CTO Heejung Kim.

The deal calls for quarterly royalty payments for units sold, and total royalties will be based on annual sales. Further financial terms were not disclosed.

“We have received numerous requests from broadcasters, particularly Europeans, who want access to 3D televisions that integrate our technology,” said Sensio president and CEO Nicholas Routhier. “We now have a quality product to offer, one that will be available in the very near future.”

In late January, the DVD Forum adopted Sensio’s 3D technology as an optional DVD standard. Sensio 3D has been used on some Imax 3D DVDs, as well as Spy Kids and Jaws.
