My Kingdom for the DVD8 Nov, 2004 By: Stephanie Prange
Last weekend, some neighbors and I watched an old VHS copy of the horror movie Alice, Sweet Alice that one of them had procured on eBay for less than $1.
The sound fell out every couple of minutes and the tracking slipped. It was terribly hard to see and hard to watch. During one of the pivotal scenes, we could barely hear what was happening.
Thank goodness for DVD.
I've come to realize that I can't go back. VHS just doesn't cut it anymore. It's kind of like watching black-and-white TV with rabbit ears. It's old-fashioned, and it's rather annoying.
The next time we search for an old movie from our past, I'll encourage the team to look for the DVD. Even at 59 cents, this cassette version of Alice, Sweet Alice wasn't worth the price.
