News Corp. Renames Studio, TV Units ‘21st Century Fox’16 Apr, 2013 By: Erik Gruenwedel
News Corp. has renamed its combined studio and TV operations “21st Century Fox,” according to chairman and CEO Rupert Murdoch April 16.
News Corp. recently separated its media and studio units from publishing, with the latter retaining the previous corporate title. It includes Dow Jones & Co., The Wall Street Journal and The New York Post, in addition to British and Australian newspapers.
21st Century Fox will include 20th Century Fox Studios and 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment.
“21st Century Fox is a name that draws upon the rich creative heritage of 20th Century Fox, while also speaking to the innovation and dynamism that must define each of our businesses through the 21st Century,” Murdoch said in a statement. “Our new name is inspired by the very first company we acquired nearly 30 years ago as our initial foray into the awe-inspiring world of entertainment.”
