‘Glee’ Star Lynch Honored With Wax Statue4 Aug, 2010 By: Chris Tribbey
HOLLYWOOD — Hundreds of spectators gathered outside Madame Tussauds Hollywood Aug. 4 to watch actress Jane Lynch’s “Glee” character Sue Sylvester become immortalized.
“For all eternity. Or as long as wax lasts,” said “Glee” co-creator and co-executive producer Ian Brennan.
Lynch watched as a $300,000 wax figure of Sylvester — including her signature bullhorn and jogging suit — was unveiled. Earlier in the year the actress had spent hours sitting for Madame Tussauds sculptors, who took hundreds of measurements and photos to produce her wax figure.
“I look dead, though it does look like they minimized my ass,” she said. “I am so proud to be here. I look forward to every morning I get to put on that tracksuit.”
The first season of the series, which garnered 19 Emmy nominations (winners are announced Aug. 29), will be released Sept. 14 (order date Aug. 18) as a seven-DVD set at $59.98 and a four-disc Blu-ray set at $69.99 from 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment. The sets will have all 22 episodes, including all the episodes from December’s Glee Vol. 1 release plus nine more.
Bonus features include extended episodes, a behind-the-scene featurette of “The Power of Madonna” episode, sing-along karaoke, “Glee” makeovers, dance tutorials and “Sue’s Corner” segments.
“Not only has it passed expectations, it’s become this weird cult favorite,” Brennan said of the series’ popularity.
