‘Buffy’ Gets Eighth Season31 Jul, 2010 By: John Latchem
“Buffy the Vampire Slayer” is getting an eighth season in the form of motion comics that have been adapted from Joss Whedon’s official continuation of the series published by Dark Horse Comics.
The comic book series began in 2007 and picks up after the events chronicled in the 1997-2003 TV series created by Whedon, dealing with Buffy Summers’ and her friends attempts to lead an army of vampire slayers. The comic book series is set to run for 40 issues, ending early next year.
Each episode of the motion comics series covers an issue of the print comic. However, none of the original cast reprise their roles in voicing the motion comics.
The episodes are available now on iTunes at 99 cents each ($1.99 in HD) and a season pass at $14.99 ($29.99 HD). The first 19 episodes will be released on a Buffy: Season 8 DVD Jan. 4, 2011, by 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment.
