‘24’ Fans to Compete for $10,000

19 Nov, 2010 By: John Latchem

In advance of the Dec. 14 release of 24: The Complete Series by 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment, fans of the show are invited to a marathon screening of the series Dec. 2-5.

The 24 Marathon Fanfest begins at 8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 2 at Hollywood and Highland in Los Angeles and will feature appearances by cast members and a display of props from the show.

In addition, organizers hope to find the ultimate “24” fan and potentially set a world record for longest TV viewing, which is currently just more than three days. As part of the marathon challenge, the show will be played beginning with the first season, and the last viewer remaining will win $10,000.

Participants will be allowed bathroom breaks every six hours and must be at least 18 years old to enter. There is no entry fee.

Fans can enter the challenge by e-mailing RSVP.Events@Fox.com.

The 24: The Complete Series set includes all eight seasons of the series at $349.98. Dec. 14 also sees the release of 24: The Complete Eighth Season on DVD ($59.98) and Blu-ray ($69.99).

Update (11/23/10): Fans can register for the marathon contest at www.foxconnect.com/24marathon after 11 p.m. Nov. 23. The first 100 eligible participants will be entered into the challenge for the grand prize. Eating and drinking will be allowed during the contest, but sleeping will not be.

The event is slated to run Dec. 2-6 and participants must check in at 5 p.m. Dec. 2. If more than one person lasts through the run of the show, they will split the prize money, according to event organizers.
