Paramount Home Media Distribution Ups Q4 Revenue 23%

9 Nov, 2016 By: Erik Gruenwedel

Paramount Pictures Nov. 9 reported a $37 million increase in fourth-quarter (ended Sept. 30) revenue to $199 million for its retail unit, Paramount Home Media Distribution.

Top-selling packaged-media release Daddy’s Home has generated $14.8 million in combined DVD/Blu-ray Disc sales since its March release.

Overall, Paramount Pictures reported an operating loss of $137 million on revenue of $774 million, which was down 24% from $1 billion during the previous-year period.

The decline was driven by lower theatrical revenue, due to the strong international performance of Mission: Impossible — Rogue Nation in the fourth quarter of 2015. Overall, theatrical revenue declined 55% to $203 million. Licensing revenue topped $326 million.

For the fiscal year, Paramount reported an operating loss of $445 million on revenue of $2.66 billion, compared with operating income of $111 million on revenue of $2.88 billion a year ago.
