Best Buy Widens Q3 Same-Store Entertainment Decline

Best Buy Nov. 17 reported a 9.4% decline in same-store entertainment sales, compared with a 6% drop during the previous-year period. The category represented 6% ($491.5 million) of Best Buy’s $8.19 billion in domestic revenue, unchanged from a year ago.

The entertainment category includes packaged-media Blu-ray Disc and DVD movies, TV shows, music CDs and video games. Best Buy attributed the decline in part to ongoing softness in the video game market.

Domestic online revenue of $881 million increased 24.1% year-over-year primarily due to increased traffic and higher average order values.
