Yahoo is allowing users to personalize their personal pages with more widgets, including those from rival Web sites.
Yahoo will include widgets with news links to sites other than Yahoo.com, music links to iTunes and Amazon.com, Netflix movie reviews and the ability to check non-Yahoo email on a Yahoo page. Additionally, Sept. 22 Yahoo announced the formation of a digital advisory council to promote advertising on the site.
“As Yahoo partners with publishers to extend the reach of our network, we have formed the Digital Advisory Council to identify innovative ways to improve advertiser performance, particularly in anticipation of the rollout of Yahoo's new advertising management platform in the coming months,” said Yahoo EVP Hilary Schneider. “Opening up Yahoo is a key part of our strategy, and we want to help advertisers understand how they can benefit from this approach.”
The updates to Yahoo will roll out over the next few months, the company said.
