Tribune, Gracenote Combine Database Services

Tribune Media Services and Gracenote have formed a strategic alliance designed to help consumers better organize their digital media collections and allow content providers new options for increasing customer satisfaction.

The combination of Tribune’s database of TV movie and celebrity information with Gracenote’s global media database and media identification software is designed to offer three key benefits, according to the companies.

First, consumers should be able to more easily organize their personal media libraries, complete with titles, descriptions and images. Second, video service providers can offer better recommendations and guides. Third, content providers can enhance revenue through promotional tie-ins keyed to specific programming being watched by a given consumer.
