Streaming Video, Facebook Continues Digital Media Domination

23 Sep, 2010 By: John Latchem

The latest New Media Measure report from research firm Interpret shows a preference for streaming over downloading video and the growth of Facebook within the social media and gaming arenas.

The 2010 second-quarter report found that the number of streaming incidents has not only grown over the past year, but the number of TV shows and movies streamed by the average consumer has increased. Netflix and Hulu continued to lead the field, with Hulu a top site for TV show streaming — 40% of TV streamers have watched TV on Hulu.com in the past three months.

The study also indicated Facebook dominates social networking and casual gaming, pointing out that 93% of online women 35 and older access Facebook at least once every two weeks and are highly engaged with casual games.
