Showtime Offers Animated ‘Dexter’ Webisodes12 Oct, 2009 By: John Latchem
Showtime Oct. 25 will launch a 12-part series of animated webisodes based on its hit show “Dexter,” which recently began its fourth season.
“Dexter: The Early Cuts” will be told in four one- to two-minute chapters, with episodes available at www.sho.com.
The Web series will show fans how Dexter, played by Michael C. Hall, evolved his killing techniques, from haphazard to the calculated methods seen on the show. “Dexter” writer-producer Lauren Gussis wrote the webisodes.
Showtime also has created additional multiplatform initiatives to promote the new season, including a multi-input game that crosses multiple platforms (on-air to online to mobile devices); each week users are asked to solve a challenge or find a hidden clue to reveal an image or clip from a future episode. Fans can also experience “Dexter” via a YouTube game called “Where’s Dexter?” based on the “Where’s Waldo?” concept, in which users are challenged to find Dexter in various scenarios. Facebook users can “Dexterize” their profile pages. And the DextersChangeTheBaby.com game lets fans upload their photo to replace the face of Dexter’s new baby with their own image.
