Rovi Corp. announced Oct. 6 that consumers using devices that have Rovi’s Connected Platform media networking software built in will be able to play and share content stored on PCs with Windows 7 installed.
Available Oct. 22, Windows 7 will include a new version of Windows Media Center that allows for connections between the PC and consumer electronics with Rovi’s software, most recently including Onkyo Corp.’s audio/video receivers, the TX-NA1007 and TXNA5007.
“We’re working closely with our customers and other technology leaders, such as Onkyo, Microsoft, eSOL and TI to help them quickly bring products to market for the digital home,” said Akitaka Nishimura, SVP of Asia Pacific at Rovi. “Consumers are waiting for these high-caliber connected products, and we are helping our customers fulfill this need as soon as possible.”
