Report: British Prefer Amazon for Downloads

24 Feb, 2009 By: Erik Gruenwedel

Move over iTunes. Amazon appears to be currying favor among Britons who download music, videos and games, according to a new report.

Strategy Analytics said that in a survey of 515 broadband users Amazon’s Unbox and video-on-demand (VOD) services rated superior to Apple iTunes, Microsoft’s MSN Network, eBay and others.

"Our survey results suggest that Amazon's dominance and brand strength in traditional online retailing put it in a strong position to lead the UK's fast-growing premium digital media sector in the years ahead," Martin Olausson, head of digital media research at Strategy Analytics, told Reuters.
