Chicago-based Questar Entertainment has started a new digital division to oversee the more than 3,500 titles it owns that are used on digital platforms.
Kevin Silverman, previously Questar’s VP of acquisitions and development, will oversee the division as VP of digital distribution and programming.
“The key to growing our digital division has been focusing on allowing consumers to get our content however they want to watch it,” said Silverman, who has been with Questar for four years. “The consumer flexibility Questar’s digital division creates makes us attractive to producers because we can maximize revenue for their content in so many ways. This, in turn, helps us add to our collection of titles.”
Questar has digital partnerships with iTunes, Netflix, YouTube and Amazon, as well as other streaming Web sites, cable and satellite providers, and video game console operators. Silverman will also be in charge of working with retail partners, including Best Buy and Wal-Mart, on their digital initiatives.
“As someone who has seen the business transition from VHS to DVD and then from DVD to Blu-ray and digital, it’s clear to me that Kevin is the right person to guide Questar forward in this crucial time as we assume a leadership position in the digital marketplace,” said Albert Nader, founder and president of Questar.
