New Publishing Platform Makes TV Mobile5 May, 2009 By: Kyra Kudick
National Datacast and Roundbox have teamed to create the Mobile Digital TV Publishing Platform, which will enable TV broadcasters to send programming to Mobile DTV-enabled devices, such as laptops and smartphones.
Beginning later in 2009, TV broadcasters will be able to use part of their digital broadband signal to provide free, ad-supported, or premium and subscription-based services to users in a mobile environment.
Additionally the platform allows for two-way user interaction for e-commerce and content purchases.
“[National Datacast and Roundbox] products enable video clips, Web content and various other types of file content to be distributed to consumers, providing a Web-like on-demand experience, delivered with the reach and economics of broadcast,” said Dennis Specht, co-founder, president and CEO of Roundbox.
