The MPEG Industry Forum, an independent platform-neutral, not-for-profit organization dedicated to promoting MPEG use in next-generation digital media, will expand its scope of activities.
MPEGIF will provide a forum to exchange information and views on technological, economic and regulatory issues.
Key MPEGIF activities are structured into three groups: technology and engineering; interoperability and compliance; and marketing and communication.
Topics of focus for MPEGIF throughout 2009 and 2010 include MPEG-4/scalable video coding; 3-D TV; addressable advertising; simplifying competitive licensing; quality of experience and service metrics; royalty-free DRM initiatives; IPTV ecosystem; ultra-HD (7680x4320); MPEG/high-performance video coding; MPEG-7 and MPEG-21.
