Macrovision Aims to Change Name to Rovi19 May, 2009 By: Chris Tribbey
The new name, if approved by stockholders on July 15, is intended to reflect Macrovision’s shift from a simple technology company to a digital entertainment company. In recent months the company has acquired metadata technology company Muze and sold its TV Guide properties to Lionsgate.
“At Macrovision, we have transformed the company to be a leader in enabling the rapid adoption of digital entertainment,” said Macrovision president and CEO Fred Amoroso. “We have done this through a series of strategic acquisitions, divestitures and continued innovation of our product portfolio, and as a result, the company is dramatically different then it was just a year ago.”
