Jaman Launching U.K. Site14 Jan, 2009 By: Chris Tribbey
With 70% of its users outside of the United States, the announcement Jan. 13 that Jaman.com was launching a site in the United Kingdom was inevitable, according to company founder and CEO Gaurav Dhillon.
And don’t be surprised if you see Spanish-language and Chinese versions of Jaman.com before long, he added.
“The feeling we always had is that we would be international,” Dhillon said of the site, which has content agreements with Paramount, Lionsgate, First Look Films and Magnolia Pictures, among others.
David Fischer, former EVP and managing director of MySpace and Fox Interactive Media, will take the lead for Jaman.com’s new United Kingdom and international operations. The new site will debut with more than 1,000 titles, from British Film Institute, Pathé Films and Axiom Films.
“David’s done the same things internationally with MySpace … he knows what he’s doing,” Dhillon said.
