Disney Expands Russian Presence

Mobile TeleSystems OJSC (MTS), a leading telecommunications provider in Russia and the CIS, and The Walt Disney Company CIS April 7 announced a deal to deliver Disney movies and TV shows via the Internet in Russia. MTS will deliver Disney content to Russian consumers through its proprietary content portal Omlet.ru.

Initial offerings on Omlet.ru, which can be downloaded or streamed, include Surrogates, National Treasure, The Proposal, G-Force, Up, the “Pirates of the Caribbean” movies, episodes of “Lost" and more. Under the agreement the Disney catalog on Omlet.ru will be regularly updated, with new titles available for download or streaming upon their DVD release.

New releases will cost 100 to 150 rubles to download and 60 to 75 rubles to stream. Catalog titles cost 75 rubles to download and 40 rubles to stream.

Omlet.ru launched in 2009 to offer licensed movies, music and games for mobile and computer users. Today, the site offers about 550 movies and TV series.
