Codeblack Enterprises LLC, distributor of urban theatrical and DVD content, has launched digital division Codeblack Interactive.
Longtime Codeblack executive Quincy Newell heads the division.
The initiative is a follow-up to subscription movie download and streaming site UrbanFilmClub.com, which Codeblack launched with 150 titles in 2006.
“Our mission with Codeblack Interactive is to super-serve the vastly underserved black film audience with a full scope of digital delivery to every available viewing device, from flat-screens to laptops to mobile phones,” Newell said.
Indeed, the interactive unit is making Codeblack content available to iTunes, Netflix, CinemaNow, YouTube and Xbox 360, in addition to mobile phone carriers Sprint, Verizon, T-Mobile, Boost Mobile and others.
Vivendi Entertainment and 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment distribute Codeblack DVDs.
