Apple Delays European iPad Launch14 Apr, 2010 By: Erik Gruenwedel
Citing a shortage of units available for sale, Apple April 14 said it would delay the European bow of the iPad tablet computer until the end of May.
Apple said it has shipped more than 500,000 iPad units since its April 3 launch.
“The iPad is a runaway success in the U.S. thus far,” the company said, in a statement.
Cupertino, Calif.-based Apple, which said it would announce European pricing for the iPad May 10, added that delivery of the iPad 3G would commence at the end of the month.
Some analysts expect the iPad to jumpstart electronic distribution of movies and TV shows from iTunes the way the iPod legitimized music downloads.
