Stars Ben Crowley, Danny Masterson, Bijou Phillips, Daniel London, Ving Rhames, Alexandra Breckenridge, Thomas Ian Nicholas.
The title of this film sets up where it’s going to go, leaving few surprises at the end. But its predictability doesn’t make the movie any less entertaining to watch.
Those on this bridge to nowhere are five longtime friends in their early 20s living in Pittsburgh. The guys distract themselves from their low-paying dead-end jobs with small time hustling: sports booking, gambling and house parties.
One night the guys meet two hookers, Sienna (Alexandra Breckenridge of “Dirt”) and Jasper (Bijou Phillips). Brian, the leader of the group, decides to involve the girls in their schemes and add pimping to their resumé.
But Eddie (Thomas Ian Nicholas from the “American Pie” films) isn’t into it. He wants to stay straight and finish school.
With some help from coke dealer Nate (Ving Rhames in a role reminiscent of his part in Pulp Fiction), the four other guys — Kevin (Danny Masterson sans the big hair in “That ’70s Show”), Brian (Ben Crowley), Darick (Sean Derry) and Chris (Daniel London) — get their prostitution ring going, add drugs to their escort services and let the money roll in.
Like a good hustler, Brian buys expensive clothes, gets a new car and house, buys guns and throws a raging birthday party. But his flashiness gets him noticed by the cops and hustlers who want a cut.
After Chris is arrested, the rest of the guys must decide whether they want to risk continuing their business or walk away with what they have.
Fans of films such as Scarface and Goodfellas should enjoy Bridge to Nowhere. The recognizable actors did a great job making their criminally minded characters likable.
