Hurricane Sandy Delays DreamWorks Animation Earnings Announcement30 Oct, 2012 By: Chris Tribbey
DreamWorks Animation rescheduled its third-quarter 2012 earnings announcement from Oct. 30 to Nov. 1 due to the severe weather conditions created on the East Coast by Hurricane Sandy.
The conference call will be held at 1:30 p.m. Pacific time.
For its second-quarter earnings (ended June 30), DreamWorks had announced a profit of $12.8 million, down from $34 million during the same quarter in 2011. Revenue was also off 26% to $162.8 million, compared with $218.2 million during the same quarter in 2011.
For home entertainment, the studio just released multiple SKUs for Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted (Oct. 16), which took in $712 million at the worldwide box office.
Between reporting periods, DreamWorks Animation Aug. 20 announced it had selected 20th Century Fox to distribute its movies — including home entertainment — replacing longtime distributor Paramount. That agreement kicks off in 2013.
