DreamWorks Studios Inks International Distribution Deals18 Sep, 2012 By: Chris Tribbey
DreamWorks Studios has inked a number of international distribution deals, including for home entertainment, covering the United Kingdom, the Middle East, Scandinavia, Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
Disney will continue to handle distribution in North America, Latin America, Asia, Russia and Australia.
“On behalf of Steven (Spielberg) and Stacey (Snider), we are so excited to be in business with international partners we consider the ‘best of breed’ and a perfect match for our films,” said Jeff Small, DreamWorks Studios president and COO.
The multi-year distribution agreements, which include home entertainment, have Entertainment One (eOne) distributing DreamWorks Studios’ content in the U.K. and Benelux; Italia Film distributing in the Middle East; Nordisk Film distributing in Scandinavia; and Constantin Film handling Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
“Partnering with industry leaders at eOne, Constantin, Nordisk and Italia, we know our films will be handled with the utmost skill and creativity by their distribution teams,” Small said. “This new network of relationships encapsulates the studio's vision for capitalizing on the growing global marketplace.”
The first film slated for distribution under the new international agreements will be the 2013 release of the remake of French-Canadian film Starbuck, starring Vince Vaughn.
“We’re thrilled to collaborate with Steven Spielberg, Stacey Snider, Jeff Small and the entire DreamWorks team in the U.K. and Benelux,” said Patrice Theroux, eOne’s president of Filmed Entertainment. “We’re delighted that their expansion aligns so well with eOne’s strategic international distribution infrastructure. We’re looking forward to working on DreamWorks’ premium slate and sharing many successes in the coming years.”
Recent hits from DreamWorks Studios include The Help and Real Steel. In November the studio will release Lincoln with Daniel Day-Lewis.
