‘Dragon’ Roars Oct. 1527 Jul, 2010 By: Chris Tribbey
DreamWorks Animation’s box office hit How to Train Your Dragon will see Oct. 15 (order date Aug. 31) DVD and Blu-ray Disc releases from Paramount Home Entertainment.
With a $480 million worldwide take, the film about a young Viking befriending a dragon wowed audiences with its 3D look. However, DreamWorks has decided to pass on a 3D Blu-ray release for now, opting instead for a “Dragon Double” DVD set and a Blu-ray/DVD combo.
The DVD ($19.99) will be available only for a limited time and will include a commentary, featurettes and the all-new Legend of the Boneknapper Dragon animated short, featuring the voices of the original film’s cast.
Besides the DVD and its features, the Blu-ray combo ($24.99) also will include Legend of the Boneknapper Dragon, an “Animator’s Corner” viewing option with picture-in-picture storyboards, behind-the-scenes footage and interviews, pop-up trivia, a 3D dragon-building featurette, a Viking winter game, deleted scenes, a tutorial for drawing the main dragon Toothless, a Viking personality test and more.
