File-sharing technology company BitTorrent Jan. 3 said it now has more than 100 million active monthly users worldwide sharing files with its two software products, uTorrent and BitTorrent Mainline.
BitTorrent counts more than 20 million daily active users downloading more than 400,000 files in 52 languages.
“This is an exciting day for our team,” said company CEO Eric Klinker. “Our vision is to build a complete technology ecosystem comprised of software, content and devices, designed to connect modern content creators with a massive digital audience.
“This milestone highlights the size of our user base and the power of our software,” he added.
BitTorrent, which has come under fire from content owners for facilitating the exchange of copyrighted works, will be holding a private showcase of its future plans at CES this week in Las Vegas. For information, e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org.
