Google Fiber Adds Disney, ESPN Apps

16 Oct, 2013 By: Chris Tribbey

Google Fiber subscribers in Kansas City, Kan., Kansas City, Mo., and Provo, Utah, now have access to the TV Everywhere apps for Disney and ESPN, the companies announced Oct. 16.

Google Fiber offers Internet and TV service via a 1GB high-speed fiber-optic network, for a monthly fee, and is looking to expand into Austin in 2014.

The Watch ESPN app gives Google Fiber subscribers access to eight networks, including ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, ESPN3, ESPN Deportes, ESPNEWS, ESPN Goal Line and ESPN Buzzer Beater. The Watch Disney app opens up watch-anywhere access to the Disney Channel, Disney Junior and Disney XD networks.

“It’s the fifth time your kids have asked ‘are we there yet?’ from the back seat — but it looks like traffic isn’t going to ease up any time soon. Wouldn’t it be amazing if you could just use your phone or tablet to summon their favorite sports and TV shows, right there in your car?” Larry Yang, Google Fiber product manager, wrote in promoting the service.
