A German technology company has been honored for its Blu-ray authoring software included on the German BD release of Terminator 2: Judgment Day, released in the United States by Lionsgate.

Hamburg-based Sofatronic Inc.’s Kaleidescope authoring software (1.1 version) was cited last month for its “excellence in advanced interactivity” by the International Digital Media Alliance (IDMA).

Specifically, the software allows Terminator 2 viewers whose BD player is connected to the Internet to be located via IP-address tracker on a world map as proprietary atmospheric menus and screens integrated with the look and feel of the movie load.

With a BD remote, viewers can access and control extensive in-movie features, including script books, storyboards, slide shows, audio files, commentaries, background clips and four video games.
