Popcornflix Tops 1 Million Downloads on Roku

21 Mar, 2013 By: Erik Gruenwedel

Popcornflix, the ad-supported movie streaming site owned by Screen Media Ventures, March 21 said the number of downloads on Roku media players in the United States has exceeded 1 million. Popcornflix is now available on Roku devices in Canada and the United Kingdom.

The ad-supported platform does not charge viewers for access to its catalog of more than 650 films on Roku.

"Having passed a million downloads in under a year on Roku really says a lot about the popularity of the channel," said Gary Delfiner, president of Screen Media Digital, a division of Screen Media Ventures. "Roku offers the best streaming player on the market, and we're proud to provide access to so many great free films to Roku customers."

The Popcornflix channel on Roku was developed by Float Left Interactive. It recently launched Frightpix on Roku, focusing exclusively on horror films.
