Oscar-Nominated Shorts Hit Big Screen, Then Home Video1 Feb, 2012 By: Billy Gil
ShortsHD and Magnolia Pictures will hold screenings of the Oscar-nominated short programs (in the Live Action, Animation and Documentary categories) in more than 200 theaters Feb. 10, before the Academy Awards Feb. 26.
The short films will be released individually on iTunes Feb. 21 in the United States and abroad. The films also will be available on cable through Movies On Demand via Comcast, Time Warner Cable, Brighthouse, Cablevision and Cox Communication. A DVD of this year’s nominees is expected in May, according to ShortsHD.
In Los Angeles, on Feb. 10, the Animation and Live Action nominees will be screened at Landmark’s The Nuart Theatre, West LA, and Regency Theatres’ South Coast Plaza, Santa Ana; Feb. 17 the Documentary Shorts will screen at Laemmle’s Music Hall 3.
