Kaleidescape Joins DEG9 May, 2013 By: Erik Gruenwedel
Movie disc-storage company Kaleidescape has joined DEG: The Digital Entertainment Group.
Kaleidescape, which just launched a digital sellthrough storefront featuring Warner movies with 1080p resolution and UltraViolet functionality, has installed its $14,000 system in more than 11,000 homes.
“Our goal is to offer a truly engaging way for consumers to showcase their movie libraries to their friends and family,” Kaleidescape founder Cheena Srinivasan said in a statement. “Collecting movies should be fun and easy — but there are too many complications that need to be eliminated. Our involvement in the DEG will enable us to accomplish this more effectively.”
DEG executive director Amy Jo Smith said Kaleidescape’s focus on content ownership, Blu-ray and UltraViolet makes it a good fit with the industry trade group.
“Their objectives align nicely with our goals of educating consumers and advancing these initiatives,” Smith said in a statement.
