Inception Media Opens London Office6 Apr, 2013 By: Erik Gruenwedel
Inception Media Group April 5 said it opened an office in London that will allow it to expand digital content distribution internationally. Los Angeles-based Inception hired industry veteran Maura Ford to oversee and manage the distributor’s international digital distribution business.
The company features a catalog of approximately 100 movies and more than 2,500 hours of digital content encompassing feature films, episodic television series, documentaries and special interest programming.
Inception has direct sales relationships with digital retailers such as iTunes, Netflix, Amazon and Google Play. Establishing a physical presence in Europe enhances its ability to offer distributors, television networks and independent producers a cost-effective way to make their content available around the world.
Inception will increase the number of online and broadcast media channels it distributes to throughout Europe.
Ford’s 25-year sales experience includes working for Lakeshore, The Samuel Goldwyn Co., Franchise Pictures and Fireworks Pictures, before moving to London to concentrate on business affairs for HanWay Films and Content Media Corporation.
In 2010, Ford opened 7&7 Producer’s Sales Service, a boutique sales agency offering international sales support to independent filmmakers and foreign-based distribution companies. She will continue to serve as managing director of 7&7 Producer’s sales service.
“There is a growing demand among digital retailers for content suppliers to provide a steady flow of quality films and entertainment programming across all platforms,” Burgess Wilson, EVP of operations at Inception, said in a statement. “While large distributors and studios negotiate their own direct deals, smaller distribution companies and independent producers generally require a champion who can represent and distribute their content to the various digital retailers and broadcast media platforms. Inception is perfectly positioned to be that champion.”
