Google Play Offers Content to Own27 Jun, 2012 By: Chris Tribbey
Google Play, which previously offered only rentals of content, June 27 began selling TV and movies via the online and Android devices store.
TV episodes are selling for $1.99 per episode, with the option to buy entire seasons (for example, the entire fourth season of “Breaking Bad” costs $22.99). Catalog films cost $9.99 with new releases costing $12.99.
“We’re adding thousands of episodes of broadcast and cable TV shows, like ‘Revenge,’ ‘Parks & Recreation’ and ‘Breaking Bad,’ from some of the top studios, like ABC Studios, NBC Universal and Sony Pictures,” Andy Rubin, Google’s SVP of mobile and digital content said. “You can play back movies and TV shows on all your Android devices, through Google Play on the Web, and on YouTube, and soon we’ll bring the experience to Google TV devices.”
Content can be accessed via the Google Play application or online at play.google.com.
