Gaiam Picks Rentrak for New VOD Service

11 Jun, 2012 By: Erik Gruenwedel

Gaiam June 11 said it signed a deal with Rentrak to provide video-on-demand (VOD) usage data for its newly formed network, GaiamTV.com.

The agreement provides GaiamTV.com with access to Rentrak's VOD measurement service as well as the currency for ad supported, free-on-demand (FOD) networks.

GaiamTV.com, which is available on numerous portable devices, including the iPad, iPhone and iPod, as well as Roku, is a subscription VOD service that includes exclusive yoga and fitness classes, plus thousands of inspirational documentaries and personal growth, health and wellness videos.

“As we launch GaiamTV.com, we recognize the critical importance of having timely and detailed usage data to understand how viewers are interacting with our programming content and how that consumption will be translated to viewer satisfaction,” said Eric Lemasters, VP of business development at Gaiam. “Rentrak's OnDemand Essentials is the industry measurement currency for video-on-demand and subscribing to the service was a 'must' for our company.”
