Cinedigm Inks Alloy Digital for Home Entertainment Distribution

Cinedigm Entertainment Group Oct. 31 said it signed a multiyear deal with Alloy Digital to deliver the latter’s content in the home entertainment market, including digital store fronts, transactional video-on-demand and SVOD, among other channels.

Alloy’s Smosh and Clevver Media YouTube channels target the early-adopter 12-34 year-old male demographic with young adult comedy, including “Shut Up!” cartoons.

The two companies are also exploring a pilot program using Cinedigm's digital distribution capabilities into movie theatres to expand Alloy Digital’s content beyond the Internet. Additionally, the companies plan to develop alternative content channels for theatres, as well as other independent film ventures.

“Given our digital footprint in theatres and our dominance across all digital distribution platforms, partnering with Alloy Digital, a prolific, successful and forward-looking media company, is a match made in heaven,” said Chris McGurk, CEO of Cinedigm. “Together, we are rewriting the rules of distribution for a wide variety of content which audiences are clearly hungry to see.”

CEG is a unit of Cinedigm Digital Cinema Group (CDCG), which operates a business model transforming movie theaters into digital platforms and networked entertainment centers. In May the company acquired independent distributor New Video Group. From that acquisition was formed CEG.
