Chinese transactional video-on-demand platform Youku Inc. July 9 said it signed a multiyear license agreement with NBC Universal International Television Distribution for both catalog and future feature films.
Movies, which include Schindler's List, The Mummy, The Mummy Returns, The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor, Jurassic Park, The Lost World: Jurassic Park, Jurassic Park III and Apollo 13, will be available for on-demand viewing through Youku Premium.
The agreement includes rotating more than 100 classic Universal titles, including Oscar winners and critical favorites Trainspotting, Being John Malkovich and The Big Lebowski. Recent theatrical movies Contraband, Safe House, The Lorax, and summer tentpole releases Battleship and Snow White and the Huntsman will appear on Youku's platform for paid on-demand viewing after their China theatrical releases.
