Anderson Digital LLC to be run by home entertainment executives Freyr Thor and Steve Lyons
Anderson Merchandisers Oct. 29 announced it is launching a digital media distribution unit headed by former executives with Sony Pictures Home Entertainment and Vanguard Cinema.
Amarillo, Texas, based Anderson Merchandisers processes, delivers and stocks packed music, movies (DVD and Blu-ray) and books to retail clients nationwide, including Walmart and Best Buy.
Anderson Digital was created through the acquisitions of SoPeachi Entertainment and Vanguard Cinema. Based in Los Angeles, Anderson Digital features a library of more than 5,000 TV shows and 1,000 feature films through digital services such as Amazon, CinemaNow, Hulu, Netflix, Sony Entertainment Network, Toys"R"Us Movies, Walmart’s Vudo and Xbox.
Content partners include, ARC Entertainment, Big Idea Entertainment, Classic Media, Mendelson/Paws Productions(Garfield and Friends), XLrator Media and 343 Industries/Microsoft Studios, among others.
The company’s services include content aggregation, distribution, digital restoration, artwork, ingestion and transcoding.
"With the industry increasingly moving into the digital world, it is important to us to have a digital presence that can both complement and enhance our capabilities," said Anderson CEO Charlie Anderson in a statement.
Anderson Digital will be run by managing partners Freyr Thor and Steve Lyons. Thor is founder of Vanguard Cinema and a co-founder of SoPeachi Entertainment, while Lyons is a co-founder of SoPeachi and former SVP with SPHE and Ascent Media.
“This enhances our ability to provide unprecedented access to both digital and physical distribution allowing our content partners to get their shows to market through an ever growing number of platforms,” Lyons said in a statement.
