He has made numerous appearances on “The Tonight Show With Jay Leno,” “Moesha,” “The Wayans Brothers,” and Galavision’s “Loco Slam,” “Que Locos” and “Funny Is Funny.” He was chosen as the host of Sí TV’s “Latino Laugh Festival: The Show” and has toured all over the country, making multiple appearances on tours such as “Que Locos,” “Latino Laugh Festival,” “Montreal’s Just for Laughs,” and “Crown Royal Latin All Stars Comedy Explosion.”
Barcena recently shot his first one-hour standup special, Deal With It, at Hollywood’s El Portal Theatre. The live stand-up show which will air on Comedy Central May 2 and heads to DVD May 5 from Salient Media and Vivendi Entertainment and will feature extras such as never-before-seen footage and his famous YouTube “The Wrestler” animation from Clyde Comix.
Barcena grew up in East L.A., and it’s his people skills, street-smart wit and his mother’s “just use common sense, dummy!” advice that enable Barcena to connect with a wide array of cultures, yet his performances are able to maintain pride and cultural awareness without perpetuating any Latino stereotypes.
In addition to performing, Barcena writes on a regular basis. He performed in and wrote a one-man show, Cry Like a Man, and has done script writing for Nickelodeon’s The Brothers Garcia.
Barcena has just come off a two-year run as a morning show host on KSFM 102.5 in Sacramento. During that time with Barcena at the helm, the show shot to No.1 in the radio market
