THX Launches Mobile App29 Jan, 2013 By: Chris Tribbey
Audio-visual technology company THX has launched its first mobile application, THX Tune-Up, which allows users to adjust HDTVs, projectors and speakers using an Apple device.
THX is offering the app at no charge for the first week of its release (Jan. 29 to Feb. 4). It will be available for $1.99 afterward.
“By using the THX Tune-Up app, sports fans, movie enthusiasts, gamers and even reality show addicts can confirm their TV and sound system are set up correctly,” said Sandra Benedetto, director of product management for THX. “THX Tune-Up guides consumers simply and easily through picture and sound adjustments to get the best possible entertainment experience from their home system.”
The application allows users to adjust video equipment’s aspect ratio, brightness, contrast, color and tint; audio speaker assignment and speaker phase; and includes THX trailers and a Q&A section.
THX Tune-Up works with the iPad 2, 3 and 4 with iOS version 5.1.1 or higher; the iPad Mini version 6.0 or later; the iPhone 4, 4S and 5 with iOS version 5.1.1 or higher; and the iPod Touch, generation 4 or later with iOS version 5.1.1 or higher. THX will release an Android version this spring.
