Google Enters Tablet Business27 Jun, 2012 By: Chris Tribbey
Google June 27 debuted its first tablet, the Nexus 7, a device built around the Google Play content store, company representatives said.
The device will retail for $199 for an 8GB model or $249 for a 16GB model, with buyers receiving a $25 Google Play credit for a limited time.
The device features a 7-inch screen and runs on Android 4.1.
Google’s Hugo Barra, director of product management for Android, said the device was built around Google Play, the online and Android device market for movies, TV shows and applications.
“We wanted a device that was optimized in every way for the content in Google Play,” he said.
