EMA Mounts Indie Product Event

With the traditional Home Media Expo on hiatus, independent product suppliers and retailers will instead be brought together by the Entertainment Merchants Association (EMA) for a two-day Independent Product Market event July 15-16 in Universal City.


The EMA, which earlier this year said its annual summer trade show in Las Vegas would be postoned due to the troubled economy, said the small event is not designed to replace the annual convention, and the event is being kept private for a small group of retailers and suppliers, due to financial reasons.

“This is not a replacement or substitute for our annual Home Media Expo convention but rather is just one element of our strategy of serving specific segments of our membership by presenting events focused on their particular needs,” said Sean Bersell, VP of public affairs for EMA. “As part of this strategy, we presented GameSupply for video game supply chain professionals, indieFEST for independent video retailers and the Greener Gaming Gathering for the sustainability community earlier this year, and coming up we have Digital Media Pipeline in addition to the Independent Product Market.”
