To Our Readers: A Call to Action

By Thomas K. Arnold | Posted: October 21, 2008

In these difficult economic times, we see our role as a trade magazine as more important than ever. Our foremost goal is to provide you with the tools, information and resources necessary to improve your business, and we want to know how we are doing — specifically, what we could be doing better.

The studios and independent DVD/Blu-ray Disc suppliers pay our bills, through advertising and other means of financial support. Their customers are our customers — you, the readers of Home Media Magazine — and the better we serve you, the better we’re going to do.

The days when our sole endeavor was publishing a weekly print magazine are long gone. These days, we have a whole suite of print and digital products, and their common objective is not so much to help the studios sell you DVDs and Blu-ray Discs but, rather, to help you run a better business.

In the coming weeks, we’d like to fine tune what we have and develop new ways of helping you run your business in a more efficient, and more effective, way.

To guide us, we’d like your input. Please e-mail me at
tarnold@questex.com if you’d like to be interviewed by one of our editors — or maybe even me — about how you currently use our print and digital products, and how you rate them.

How much time do you spend with our print magazine, our digital edition, our Web site, our Home Media Screening Room or the daily e-news blast? Do you pass them around? Do you clip articles, charts or reviews and file them away for later use? What do you find useful, and what can you live without? And what else can we be doing that could benefit your business?

We’d also like to hear from our consumer readers. We like to spread our tentacles as far as we can, so we can become evangelists, if you will, for the home entertainment business. Suppliers, retailers, consumers — we want to bring everyone in the food chain together, give them what they need, give them what they want, and then build on that to become something akin to the office water cooler of home entertainment.

Thanks, in advance, for your help.
