Starz Hires Digital Drivers

Starz Entertainment May 21 said it hired Erin Dwyer as executive director for digital marketing for originals, and Joe Salvati as executive director for brand and digital sites.

Dwyer and Salvati will help the Englewood, Colo.-based premium movie channel operator expand its online presence to consumers and original content producers, according to Kelly Bumann, SVP of digital marketing with Starz.

Dwyer will be responsible for building integrated digital plans for the marketing of Starz original programming both on Starz-owned digital platforms, as well as third-party platforms. Salvati will lead the development of integrated digital plans for the broader Starz and Encore brands across Starz-owned digital platforms, as well as the integration and promotion to social spaces. He will also lead the strategy for the Starz and Encore Web and mobile websites and brand social environments.

In addition to distributing movies from Walt Disney Studios and Sony Pictures to cable and satellite TV operators, Starz Entertainment broadcasts original serials such as “Magic City,” “Boss” and “Spartacus,” among others. Starz in February ended a four-year content distribution deal with Netflix.

Starz and Encore have about 20.1 million and 33.6 million subscribers, respectively.
