Comcast Expands Indie VOD Roster

23 Sep, 2010 By: John Latchem

Comcast is bringing more independent film content to its customers through the new Indie Film Club of its On Demand service. The dedicated folder includes indie films, exclusive material, movie trailers, guest editors’ picks, extras, interviews and other special content.

Oct. 26 Comcast will debut Edward Burns’ Nice Guy Johnny through the Indie Film Club the same day it is released on DVD and online. Comcast’s version includes an exclusive interview with Burns, behind-the-scenes content and a live online chat with Burns. Comcast also will feature Burns as an On Demand guest editor with his “Picks and Flicks,” which include his films The Brothers McMullen and She’s the One, as well as his other indie recommendations.

Comcast has also expanded its indie catalog through partnerships with Tribeca Film and SnagFilms. Comcast currently offers such films as Freakonomics and Centurion and exclusive footage from Joaquin Phoenix’s I’m Still Here, which is offered via On Demand as of Sept. 24.
