In anticipation of the May 22 theatrical release of Terminator: Salvation, Lionsgate will release an upgraded Blu-ray Disc special edition of the second film in the franchise, Terminator 2: Judgment Day.
May 19 (prebook April 22) sees the release of Terminator 2: Skynet Edition at $29.99. The Blu-ray includes multiple versions of the James Cameron-directed film, plus a new 6.1 lossless audio track; picture-in-picture behind-the-scenes video, text commentaries and multimedia galleries; a mode that lets viewers view storyboards and read the script while watching the film; interactive quizzes and games; two audio commentaries; D-Box motion control enhancements; and BD Live access to games and bonus content.
For $174.99, fans can get the Skynet Edition as part of the six-disc Limited Edition T2 Complete Collector’s Set, which also includes both the Extreme Edition DVD and the Ultimate Edition DVD. The combination offers every T2 special feature ever put on disc, plus a digital copy of T2 for iTunes or Windows Media. The collection comes packed in a 14-inch T-800 endoskull replica that plays sound effects from the film as its eyes light up.
Terminator 2 stars Arnold Schwarzenegger as a reprogrammed cyborg warrior sent back in time to protect Sarah Connor (Linda Hamilton) and her son, John (Edward Furlong), the future leader of humanity, from a shape-shifting robotic assassin (Robert Patrick).
The film was first released on Blu-ray in 2006, containing only the theatrical cut of the film and two commentaries ported from the DVDs.
