29 Apr, 2009 By: John Latchem

When Warner Home Video releases Green Lantern: First Flight this summer, the Blu-ray Disc version will sport more than 4.5 hours of exclusive content.

The direct-to-video animated movie, the latest in the DC Universe line, hits July 28 (prebook June 23) and will be released as a single DVD at $19.99, as a two-DVD special edition at $24.98 and on Blu-ray Disc at $29.99.

The film details the origins of how Hal Jordan became the Green Lantern and explores the origins of the mystical ring that provides the source of his power. The disc will include a sneak peek at the next DC Universe project: Superman/Batman: Public Enemies.

The special-edition and Blu-ray versions will include “Behind the Story With Geoff Johns,” in which the bestselling writer discusses the mythology of the character. Also included are character profiles of the Guardians of the Universe and the villain Sinestro; a look behind the scenes of DC Comics’ Blackest Night storyline; the “Duck Dodgers” episode “The Green Loontern”; and two bonus cartoons, likely episodes of the “Justice League” animated series.

The Blu-ray version includes the exclusive documentary I Am the Ring, a look at the symbolism of the ring in literary lore and as reimagined for Green Lantern, plus five additional cartoons.
